The Basic Importance of the Levy
Communities that value its citizens and neighborhoods also values its education system. Neighborhoods support our
ethical and moral development, businesses support our economic development, and our schools support our cultural and
intellectual development. Because good schools make for good communities, levies support all aspects of the school
system, which in turn strengthens the community. Property owners also learn that good school systems appreciate the
value of their homes.
What the Community Needs from You
1.) Encourage voter registration. Since turnout is critical, every vote carries significant weight.
2.) Inform your neighbors and friends of the value of the school system and how the levy can strengthen the community through improved schools.
3.) Remind senior citizens to contact the Assessor’s Office to determine their eligibility for exemption from levy taxes. (King County Assessor’s
Office information can be found at http://www.metrokc.gov/assessor/ or by calling 206-296-7300)
4.) Support organizations that advocate positive change in the community.
5.) Exercise your right to vote on February 7, 2006
